The Upward Bound Math-Science Program is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science, and ultimately careers in the math and science profession (www2.ed.gov). Essentially, this program is identical to the Upward Bound Program with a foundation focused on math and science.

In order to be eligible for Upward Bound Math-Science, you must meet the same requirements for the Upward Bound Program.

- Summer programs with intensive math and science training
- Year-round counseling and advising
- Exposure to university faculty members who do research in the math and sciences
- Computer training
- Participant-conducted scientific research under the guidance of faculty members or graduate students
- Education or counseling to improve financial and economic literacy of students
